Neurological Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy for people living with neurological conditions. We help you regain function, build strength, and achieve your goals through evidence-based neuro rehabilitation.
What is Neurological Physiotherapy?
Read our guide: Neurological physiotherapy at home
Neurological physiotherapy is an area of physiotherapy that works with people living with conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord or nervous system. Our team uses evidence-based techniques to help you improve movement, strength, balance, and independence. For NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed. We cannot accept NDIA-managed funding.
The brain has an amazing ability to adapt and form new neural pathways - a process called neuroplasticity. Our therapy harnesses this by using repetitive, task-specific practice to help rewire movement patterns and restore function.
Conditions We Support
Our neurological physiotherapy service supports people with:
- Stroke (CVA) - acute and long-term recovery
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Parkinson's Disease
- Cerebral Palsy (children and adults)
- Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Spinal Cord Injury
- Motor Neurone Disease (MND)
- Huntington's Disease
- Guillain-Barre Syndrome
- Muscular Dystrophy
- Peripheral neuropathy
Outcomes We Target
Our neuro physio programs focus on meaningful, functional improvements:
- Improved walking ability and gait quality
- Better balance and reduced fall risk
- Increased strength and muscle activation
- Greater independence with daily activities
- Improved transfers (bed, chair, toilet, car)
- Reduced spasticity and muscle tightness
- Movement and postural control
- Enhanced coordination and motor control
- Increased confidence with movement
- Maintained function for progressive conditions
Our Neuro Physio Approach
We use a range of evidence-based neurological rehabilitation techniques:
- Task-specific training: Practising real-life movements and activities
- Strengthening exercises: Building muscle power for functional tasks
- Balance training: Static and dynamic balance activities
- Gait retraining: Improving walking patterns with or without aids
- Stretching and range of motion: Maintaining joint flexibility
- Spasticity management: Movement strategies
- Functional electrical stimulation: Where appropriate
- Home exercise programs: Tailored exercises you can do between sessions
How Sessions Work
Comprehensive Assessment
We assess your movement, strength, balance, coordination, and functional abilities. We discuss your goals and what matters most to you.
Goal-Oriented Plan
Together we set meaningful goals aligned with your NDIS plan and create a therapy program to achieve them.
Intensive Therapy
Regular sessions (typically 1-2x per week) focusing on repetitive, challenging practice to drive neuroplastic change.
Progress Tracking
We measure and document your progress, adjusting the program as you improve. NDIS-ready reports provided.
